The full page advertisement in Charisma magazine which promoted the Signs and Wonders meeting indicated that those who attended would even learn how to make "Dead Corpses to Rise." Apostle Mel Bond, who led the meeting, was asked by a reporter just how many he had raised from the dead. With a little bit of hesitation, he responded by saying, "I have raised four or five people." But when questioned how long those lived after they had been raised, his reply was "About 5 minutes and the one was about 10 minutes."

The newly elected Moderator of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches (WCC), Dr. Walter Altman, thought it was important for everyone in attendance to know where he theologically draws his inspiration. No, he did not say the Bible. Rather it is from Karl Barth and Dietrich Bonhoeffer! Both of whom have long been identified with neo-orthodoxy, liberalism and apostasy.

With the pulsating beat of drums as a background, the performance of "A Time to Dance," by a group of young adults from New York City, was the first thing that took place at the opening plenary session of the 9th Assembly of the World Council of Churches (WCC). The group of dancers explained their "ministry" as one which connects "theology and prayer with artistry, and explores the way in which movement can be an expression of faith." This sensual dance was well received by the audience of more than 4800, who even gave them a standing ovation.

A series of contradictory events accompanied the World Council of Church's Conference on World Mission and Evangelism which was held in the Agios Andreas Centre, northeast of Athens, Greece, May 9-16, 2005. Nearly 700 religious leaders from 105 countries gathered under the banner, "Come Holy Spirit, Heal and Reconcile." Theologians, missiologists and denominational leaders from all major denominations attended. The World Council of Churches (WCC) had also invited those from the Roman Catholic Church as well as Pentecostal, Charismatic and Evangelical church bodies.

Dr. Samuel Kobia declared, “Our table is big enough for all of us.” But the discerning person understands that the WCC will not only be the host but also decide on what the menu must be.”

With long flowing hair and dressed in a purple robe, the self- proclaimed witch, Rev. Selena Fox, spoke to the large group in attendance at the “Circles in the Greenwood” workshop. She said, “You must always focus on the here and now and not any future or eternal life. If you be pagan or not, you must understand that Paganism is a world religion. All religions either came from paganism or opposition to it.”

Given a standing ovation, Dr. Robert Schuller brought his message of self-esteem Christianity to the platform of the 61st Annual Convention of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE). He declared, "There are some things in the Bible I cannot swallow but you get saved not by the Book but the blood. Keep your message positive. Understand God is a God of grace and glory so forget the matter of justice."

National Religious Broadcasters 61st Annual Convention

The last two National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) Conventions were marked with internal strife and controversy. However, in 2004 it was a time of peace and harmony. The record attendance of 6,049 put aside former differences to emphasize a double theme of “Renewing Our Vision” and “Restoring Our Commitment.”

"Christ belongs to all humanity for He goes beyond Christianity. Let's not 'own Christ' but rather engage in interreligious dialogue with all world religions," declared His Holiness Aram I, Moderator of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Central Committee meeting at the Headquarters in Geneva. "Religious fundamentalism is the greatest enemy of religion and the most dangerous force of our times. Overcoming fundamentalism is an urgent and top priority for all religions," he added.

The National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) met in Nashville, TN February 7-11, 2003 while the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) held their meeting at the Wooddale Church, Eden Park, MN March 6-7, 2003. This report will deal with these in a separate way but the observations may overlap as both organizations share the same heritage and position.

"I believe this one event in 2003 will forever change what it means to be a pastor in America. In three short days something supernatural will be seen in the Bank One Ballpark in Phoenix." Later he declared, "We have had a catalytic anointing of the Spirit that is across all boundaries."

The beautiful city of Geneva, Switzerland, is located by the blue waters of Lake Geneva with it's fountain that reaches 459 feet into the air. However, a major religious organization, the World Council of Churches (WCC), which is headquartered in that city is awash in red ink. The WCC has now spent it's reserve funds, dismissed many staff members and even found it necessary in 2002 to secure a mortgage against their own building and land.
